1. About this policy
KampKiekies is a personal camping journal for recording camping visits, photos, notes and memories. This Privacy Policy explains how KampKiekies (referred to as “we”, “us” or “our”) may collect, use, store and share personal information when you use the KampKiekies app or the KampKiekies web version.

2. Information we may collect
We only aim to handle information that is reasonably necessary to provide and improve KampKiekies. Depending on how you use the service, this may include:
- Account and contact information, such as your email address and any details you give us when creating or maintaining an account.
- Journal content that you choose to save, including campsite names, provinces, dates, stand numbers, ratings, practical notes, captions, weather observations and other camping memories.
- Photos and other media you choose to upload to your personal camping journal.
- Limited technical and security information, such as device or browser details, app version, IP address, log data and error reports needed to operate and protect the service.
- Subscription status or purchase confirmation where a Plus subscription is made available through an approved payment provider. Payment providers process payment details under their own terms and privacy notices.
3. How we use information
We may use the information above to provide your account and journal, store and display the content you choose to save, support you, keep KampKiekies secure, diagnose problems, administer subscriptions, comply with legal obligations and improve the service.
4. Private journal by design
KampKiekies is not a public social network. We do not publish your camping journal, notes or photos to other KampKiekies users as part of the normal service. You remain responsible for what you choose to share outside KampKiekies.
5. When information may be shared
We do not sell personal information. We may share information only when reasonably necessary with trusted service providers that help host, secure, maintain or support KampKiekies; with a payment provider when a subscription is processed; when required by law or a valid legal request; or in connection with a genuine business transfer. Service providers should be permitted to use information only to provide their services to us.
6. Retention and deletion
We aim to keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for your account, your journal, legitimate operational purposes or legal obligations. You may ask to access, correct or delete your personal information by emailing howzit@kampkiekies.co.za. Deleting an account may remove access to saved content, and some information may remain in backups or records for a limited period where reasonably necessary or required by law.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and organisational measures designed to protect information. No online service is completely secure, so please use a strong password where one is available and keep your account credentials private.
8. Your rights and choices
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to request access to personal information, correction of inaccurate information, deletion, restriction or objection to certain processing, and withdrawal of consent where consent is the basis for processing. To make a request, email howzit@kampkiekies.co.za. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
9. International processing
KampKiekies or its service providers may process information in countries other than the one where you live. Where that happens, we aim to use appropriate safeguards required by applicable law.
10. Children
KampKiekies is not intended for children under 18. If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate permission, please email howzit@kampkiekies.co.za so we can review the request.
